  • Where to apply
    • An applicant has to apply through VFS, which will forward your application on behalf of you to the Canadian High commission in New Delhi.

How many days prior a student can apply for Visa
90 days prior a student can apply for visa, but he can only fly 30 days prior from the course commencement date.
  • Study Permit Visa Application Fees
    A student can carry Rs 7,750/- approx Cash while applying for Visa (Which includes optional courier charges of Rs 200/-)
  • Processing Time
    processing time varies from case to case
    • Under SPP it takes 3-4 weeks
    • Under Non SPP it takes 5-6 weeks
    It is recommended to apply for visa as soon as possible to avoid any kind of hassle.
English Language Requirement
  • IELTS is mandatory for if the student if filing for Visa under Students partners program (SPP) with a minimum score of overall 6.0 band (no less then 5.5 in each module). It is also recommended to give IELTS even if the student is filling for visa under Non SPP.

Work Prospects

  • Full-time students registered in a degree or diploma-granting course are allowed to work on the campus of the institution at which they are registered without the need for an employment authorization. This includes on-campus employment for graduate, teaching or research assistants.
  • Students whose intended employment forms an integral part of their course of study such as undergraduate co-op programs, some programs offered by career colleges or language schools and some high school programs.
  • The new Work Permit Program states that International students who have studied for 2 years can obtain an Open Work Permit with no restrictions on the type of employment and no requirements of a Job offer for 3 years and students who study a one year program are eligible for a one year Work Permit.
  • Spouses of full-time students are eligible for open or open/restricted employment authorization, depending on medical requirements having been met.
